If you are looking for more active activity, you can go paddle boarding, jet skiing, and kayaking — and when you are spent out, you can relax and sunbathe at Mecklenburg County’s only beach or take your boat out for a lovely cruise.
Lake Norman has a bounty of parks with beautiful walking and biking trails, including Jetton Park in Cornelius.
It has 104 acres, a small beach, a 1.3 mile bike trail, and a 1.5 mile walking trail along the lake. It is the perfect place to spend the day.

Things To Do
Dining in Lake Norman is a treat, including fine dining and waterfront restaurants with outdoor seating. Birkdale Village is an open-air mall where people meet, shop, eat, and have fun.
From upscale dining to casual, the options are extensive — and so is the shopping. Catch a movie at one of the 16 screens at the Regal Theater.
Or you can take a 20-minute drive from the Cornelius–Huntersville area to Uptown Charlotte, where you can see a Panthers game at Bank of America Stadium or visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Additional activities for the family can include a play or concert, taking the kids to Imaginon, or having a world-class meal at one of the finest restaurants around.
Davidson is a quaint town also on Lake Norman. Take a leisurely stroll down main street and stop at the old-fashioned Soda Shop for ice cream.

If you are a NASCAR lover, Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord is just 20 miles away. You can also visit Concord Mills, North Carolina’s largest outlet mall — and the Bass Pro Shop is worth seeing.
Interesting Facts
There is so much history in the Lake Norman area. Visiting the Latta Plantation in Huntersville is an amazing journey back to the 1800s plantation life.
A little further up the road, Rural Hill is a Colonial-era farm worth exploring.
One of the best things about living in Lake Norman is its proximity to everything — you are never more than a few hours from the mountains or the ocean.
