Huntersville is the first Lake Norman town in Mecklenburg County, north of Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2015 the population was 52,704. Thus, making the town the 17th largest municipality in North Carolina.  Even before Huntersville was established as a municipality, steam engines carried passengers on rails that still run parallel to N.C. 115.  Farmers grew cotton on large plantations and schools attracted families from near and far.  As the town grew larger, so did business.  Today, the commute to Charlotte and the proximity of Lake Norman are some of what entices people to live here.

Huntersville is home to national and internationally known companies such as SABIC Innovative Plastics, Rubbermaid, Pactiv Corporation, GM Financial and Ensemble Health Partners to name a few.
