Mooresville is a large town located in Iredell County, North Carolina. It is a fast-growing part of the Charlotte-Metro area. The population as of 2016 was 36,543 making it the largest municipality in Iredell County. Mooresville is best known as the home of many NASCAR racing teams and fans. Also, there are racing technology suppliers, and NASCAR Technical Institute which has earned the town the nickname “Race City USA”. Besides being home to NASCAR, Mooresville is also the corporate headquarters of Lowe’s Companies.
Things to do
Because Mooresville is home to NASCAR their are many activities that revolve around racing fans. First, is Penske Racing Facility. A state-of-the-art facility located on 105 acres in Mooresville. It houses a museum, gift shop with access to a 432 foot fan walk above the garage floor, and the IndyCar Series teams occupy 55,843 square feet in the facility.
Then, there is North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame. With a museum, art gallery, visitor center and gift shop which showcases the history, growth and evolution of the motorsports industry in NC.
If lake fun is what you are looking for then Queen’s Landing offers sightseeing tours aboard Lake Norman’s Lady of the Lake Yacht, or The Catawba Queen paddle wheel. After the tour play a round of miniature golf or sit back and enjoy a drink and listen to music while looking out over the lake.
For the kiddo’s, check out the Lazy 5 Ranch. Lazy 5 Ranch is privately owned and operated with no federal or state funding. It is home to over 750 animals from 6 different continents. The animals can be viewed by horse-drawn wagons or from the comfort of your own vehicle along a 3-½ mile safari ride.
Parks and Recreation
Bellingham Park features a soccer field, tennis courts, playground, and walking/running trails behind the park.
Stumpy Creek Park located off Perth Road in Mooresville has several picnic shelters, soccer and baseball fields, as well as disc golf.
Lake Norman State Park, a few miles north of Mooresville, has one of the region’s more popular mountain biking adventures with 30.5 miles of a single-track trail. The park also features a swim beach and bathhouse complex as well as a boat ramp and fishing spots. Also, campsites are available. And, if you are needing facilities for a family or group event there is a community building with kitchen facilities that can be rented year round.
Golf Communities
The Point in Mooresville – a community that surrounds the Trump National Golf Club Charlotte. The Point offers a long list of resident and golf club member benefits. Including, over 18 miles of Lake Norman shoreline, five miles of scenic walking trails, and 44 acres of dedicated green space.

All Seasons Marina is a full-service boatyard, power, and sail. Other features include over 200 In-Water slips, trailer and boat storage, fuel and snack shop.
Stutts Marina is small compared to others on Lake Norman but that makes it special. Because they are smaller they can provide full customer service with satisfaction to their slip owners as well as customers. The store carries all types of drinks for adults as well as kids, Yeti coolers, sunscreen and more. The open face docks can accommodate up to 80’ boats.
School

Big Daddy’s of Lake Norman has been serving up the finest seafood, steak, and prime rib for over 40 years. However, if Eastern North Carolina Barbeque sounds good then check out Lancaster’s. They provide some of the best barbeque around with Dine-In, Carry-out or Full-Service Catering. For a more fine-dining experience and for that special occasion Epic Chop House on Main Street in Mooresville is the place to go. Located in a historic building built in 1888 once housed men’s clothing, feed, and seed, and later became a furniture store. The building was remodeled as a restaurant and opened in 2010.
Medical Facilities
Lake Norman Regional Medical Center serves the health care needs of the greater Lake Norman area, Iredell and surrounding counties. It provides a 123 bed, acute-care services such as surgical weight loss, The Stork’s Landing Maternity Center, cardiology, and oncology to name a few.

For your grocery needs Mooresville has many of your chain grocers such as Harris Teeter and Publix. However, if you prefer the warehouse setting then BJ’s Wholesale or Sam’s Club is perfect to meet your needs.

There are a variety of retail stores such as Belk, Kohl’s, and Target to choose from. But, if you prefer a mall setting then Concord Mills is about a 30-minute drive. For the craft or hobby lover, Hobby Lobby or Michaels is a great place to get lost in your world.
